Day 40 – Living with Purpose by Marie Valdez

Psalm 33:11

11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Have you ever asked yourself what was I born for?

What is life all about? Why am I really alive anyway and what am I living for?

With the loss of a close family member, we could ask ourselves why did they die and not me?

What do you live for? What gets you out of bed in the morning? Is it the alarm clock or a calling that gets you up each and every day?

Everyone of us all need some motivating passion, something that gives our life purpose.

Rick Warrren said “Purposes are eternal”

Unfortunately some people do not know what they are lving for?

I once read that there are three types of people in the world.

1. There are people who have no purpose in life, they drift aimlessly through life, they go to school, go to work, find a spouse and eventually die never to find out why or what they were created for, they simply exist day by day and they are the most miserable of all people in life because they are people without a purpose. They are people who say just live and let live!

2. There are also people with the wrong purpose, they are super achievers, they climb the ladder of financial, political, social & religious success. They have a purpose, but their purpose is directly related to their performance. And it does not matter how many people they step on to get there. The more they acheive the better they feel about themsleves. They end up frustrated in life, they burn out, they end up experiencing the most trauma in life. Because one day they wake up and realise they have been pursuing the wrong purpose in life.

Proverbs 17:24

A discerning man keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

 3. Lastly, this type of person is the most fulfilled, because this person knows why they were created. The greatest discovery a person can find is in Christ.

I had to learn this as I was involved in too many ministries and because of that I was effective in none. It’s important to know how God fashioned you so you can be the most effective!

Our Heavenly Father always knows how to deal with us for our best and for our eternal good. People, events or situations in our life that will result in us becoming more and more like Jesus. He knows best what tools to use on us as He sharpens us to look more and more like His Son.

We have one responsibility, and that is to glorify God with our life.

As believers we know what we live for, and we can say as the Apostle Paul said “To live is Christ, and to die is gain”

No-one who lives completely for Him is ever disappointed.

May God continue to use you for His purposes!!

God bless,
